PRINCE: Brian Lara ToolsLara set for return to cricketThe tag line "The Prince Returns", accompanying a photograph of Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies batting great Brian Lara, graced the pages of the Express in the form of an advertisement on Tuesday, hinting at the return to action of the "Prince of Port of Spain". Based on the information in the ad, the West Indies batting genius is expected to take the field in a Twenty20 tournament, from August 24-26, which is being held in conjunction with the Ministry of Planning as part of T&T's 50th anniversary celebrations. Former T&T captain Daren Ganga is also expected to participate. Ganga was also part of the advertising campaign, appearing in an ad with the tag line "Captain of Captains" yesterday. T&T Cricket Board CEO Suruj Ragoonath could not give any details of the competition and insisted that organisers will reveal more information in due course. The national team could also feature in the competition as part of their build-up to the Champions League T20, to be held in South Africa later this year. |
