Laventille registered their fourth straight win in the Hoop of Life Community Basketball League on Sunday, whipping Belmont 97-49 at Raymond Reid Basketball Court, St Clair, while Santa Flora edge Fyzabad in a low-scoring encounter.
While Laventille seem to be on a hot streak, Belmont's run is heading in the opposite direction as they lost their third consecutive outing.
Laventille got off to a quick start and led 23-8 after the first quarter, a lead they continued to stretch throughout the contest. Orlando Mapp led their efforts with 30 points, as Laventille outscored Belmont 44-21 by the halfway stage, and 72-33 at the end of three periods.
Ashton DuMurrell contributed 14 points with six rebounds, and Ancil Ollivierre (12 points, eight rebounds), also came up big. Steven "Lighter" Lewis (11 points, four rebounds) and Sheldon Christian (ten points, 17 rebounds) also chipped in to make sure Belmont never found their way back into the game.
Nathyon Lewis (11 points, seven rebounds) and Quincy McFee (ten points, four rebounds) were the biggest contributors for Belmont.
Down South, Santa Flora squeezed home versus Fyzabad 48-44 at Santa Flora Basketball Court in Jacob Settlement.
It was Fyzabad's fourth straight loss despite a game-high 17 points from Kaylon Cuffie, who also contributed five assists and six steal to the Fyzabad cause.
Kemba Edwards was Santa Flora's best shooter with 15 points.
