President Anthony Carmona encouraged the young women comprising the Trinidad and Tobago Under-20 football team to continue working assiduously towards achieving their dreams.
Carmona made this comment during the team’s courtesy call at the office of the President, in St Ann’s, yesterday. The players were received by Carmona and first lady Reema Carmona. The team placed fourth in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup CONCACAF qualifying tournament, in the Cayman Islands, on Sunday. They were accompanied by Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) technical director Anton Corneal, TTFA general secretary Sheldon Phillips, and Sharon O’Brien, president of the Women’s Football Association.
“I am very proud of you,” Carmona told the players. “I know some of you are sad. Life is about challenges. Do not give up when you have these hurdles. I know some of you will make it into the senior team. I may not be here, but you might meet me on the street and tell me about it.”
Reema Carmona said: “Sports is my passion. Do not give up. I wish you all the best. You have made us proud.”
