Guyana's GCC and Notre Dame will defend their titles when the seventh Shandy Carib Magnolias Indoor Hockey Tournament starts today at a new venue this year—Jean Pierre Indoor Sports Complex.
The competition, entitled "The Tournament with a Difference", will run until Sunday, and will see GCC attempt to win back-to-back titles in the Female Under-21 Division, a feat Notre Dame will also attempt to replicate in the Under-21 Boys Division at the venue that was once considered the home of indoor hockey in Trinidad and Tobago.
Both the men's defending champion team Paragon and the winners of the recently concluded T&T Hockey Board Indoor Tournament Petrotrin (playing under the alias "Throw Your Frame") will be battling for the Championship title.
A winners' cash prize of US$300 is up for grabs in the male and female Under-21 Divisions, and US $1,200 is the bounty for the Men's Championship Division. This will be accompanied by a full slate of awards for various team and individual outstanding performances as well as nightly prizes for patrons.
