ToolsMaharajh, Roberts on T&T Pan Am squadArima Wheelers' Jodi Goodridge heads a five member team to the 2013 Elite Pan American Championships to be held in Mexico City,Mexico from February 5-10. The 18-year-old will be the only female on the team and will be accompanied by Azikiwe Kellar, Kwesi Browne, Justin Roberts and endurance rider Varun Maharajh. Goodridge, her cousin Browne and Kellar all earned automatic qualification for the Championships after bettering their respective standards in sprint events. Kellar clocked 11.269 and Browne 11.336 in the Flying 200 metres event during last week's trials at Arima Velodrome. And Goodridge was the first local woman to break the 13.500s standard in the women's 500m time trial with her 13.439 clocking. Roberts, another teenager, also came close the mark in the Flying 200, but did enough to impress the TTCF selectors. Maharaj just missed out in the four-kilometre pursuit and 15km scratch race events, but still got the selectors' nod. The team is expected to leave on on February 3 and return on February 11. |
