Maughn at Pan Am Champs

DICKSON MAUGHN recently won his seventh Trinidad and Tobago National Draughts Championship title, and is now in Curacao to participate in the Pan American Draughts Championships.

"The Pan Am competition is important," said Maughn, "because if you qualify from this you automatically get to go to the World Championship, which will be held in Holland."

The top two from the Pan Am Championships will qualify for the global event.

Maughn, who hails from Morvant, has played in eight National Championship tournaments, winning seven of them. He also has six international titles: Guadeloupe Open three times; Grenada Open twice; and the Kuperman International.

At the 2011 National Draughts Championships, Maughn beat Andy Charles into second spot. Charles is also competing at the Pan American Championships.
