Merry Boys go for fifth win

After a two-week break, the National League Premier Division will resume this weekend with leaders Merry Boys going after their fifth consecutive win of the season when they face Alescon Comets at Pierre Road in Charlieville.

Merry Boys have a 19-point lead at the top of the standings with Queen’s Park Cricket Club in second place with 75 from two wins and two draws.

Defending champions PowerGen Sports are in third place with 67 points, eight behind the Parkites, while the other Penal-based, team First Citizens Clarke Road United are fourth on 66.

Comets are fifth with 61 points and will be hoping for another good showing this weekend as they try to stop Merry Boys.

The Parkites will also have a tricky encounter this weekend, traveling to Wilson Road, Penal to face Clarke Road, who beat the Port of Spain club in the Sunday League 50 over final last month.

PowerGen are also in action this weekend, hosting eighth place Jenexcon Tableland at Syne Village in Penal.

All matches bowl off today at 10 a.m. and continue tomorrow from 9:30 a.m.
