Mohammed, Davis to defend ‘Catch’ titles

NABEEL MOHAMMED and Emma Davis will be defending the singles titles they won last year in the Catch National Junior Tennis Championships at the Eddie Taylor Public Courts, King George V Park, St Clair.

There are over 150 players entered in the country’s most prestigious junior tournament and singles and doubles action will take place in the Under-10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 age-groups on a daily basis from today until Thursday.

Mohammed captured the Under-16 and 18 titles last year and is the overwhelming favourite to retain both crowns.

Scott Hackshaw, heavily favoured to keep his Under-14 title, is the second seed in the Under-16 division, while Nkrumah Patrick is No. 2 in the Under-18 draw.

Davis will attempt to win the Under-14 and 16 division titles for the second year in succession.

Arch-rival Emma Rose Trestrail was seeded second in the Under-16 category and the left-hander is also in the Under-18 draw, where Tobagonian Kezia Koroma, the runner-up in last year’s National Championships, is seeded to win from Juliet Campbell.
