Mohammed, Phillip win inaugural cross country golf

 Rodney Phillip and Neville Mohammed won the inaugural NGC-sponsored Copa Airlines Cross Country Golf Challenge, which was held at Millennium Lakes Golf and Country Club at Trincity last Thursday. 

The pair earned 50 Stableford points to win on a count back over Daryl Nath and George Bleasdell, who finished with the same score.

Third place went to Dale Hassranah and Kissoon Gannes with 49 points while 4th and 5th places went to Hollis George and Fabian Lee Foon and Jian Liu and Xing Yuan Huang respectively, both ending the tournament with 48 points.

Phillip and Mohammed won the first prize of an all-inclusive vacation to Cartagena, Colombia courtesy Copa Airlines and Decameron All Inclusive Hotels and Resorts. 

Second and third places won similar packages to Panama City and Montego Bay while 4th and 5th places won airfare and meal inclusive packages to Tobago courtesy Haygem Tours and Travel and Magdalena Grand Beach and Golf Resort.

Forty-two teams participated in the tournament with the unique Cross Country format proving to be a huge hit with the golfers. 

Proceeds of the event went to Bridge of Hope located in Sangre Grande. Bridge of Hope is a non-profit organisation established in 1998 as a childcare provider for abandoned, abused and orphaned children.

A contribution was also made to the Trinidad and Tobago Golf Association to assist with their junior golf development programme.
