Trinidad and Tobago’s Kollyn St George captured her second silver medal of the 2014 Junior Pan American Cycling Championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico on Monday after finishing second in the 500m time trial with a record time of 36.15 second.
St George also won silver with Keiana Lester in the Team Sprint event in another national record time on Sunday. Lester was fifth in the 500m time trial, crossing the line in 37.144 second.
In other results, Akil Campbell placed seventh in the Junior Men Scratch Race. All three T&T riders was in action yesterday with St George and Lester competing in the sprint while Campbell took part in the omnium.
Lester and St George qualified seventh and eighth fastest respectively with times of 12.353 seconds and 12.699 second respectively in the flying 200m which is qualifying event for the sprints.
Lester was scheduled to face Luisa Parra of Colombia while St George was due to come up against Yuli Verdugo of Mexico in the quarter-finals yesterday evening.
Campbell was in fifth place overall after two events in the omnium yesterday. He placed sixth in the scratch race and then clocked a personal best in second omnium event--the 3km individual pursuit--with a time of three minutes 31.257 seconds to place fifth in that event. Campbell was scheduled to take part in the third omnium event, the elimination, late yesterday. The remaining three events take place today.
