Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados remained unbeaten and on course for a final round showdown, when they scored comprehensive wins on day four of the 2014 AFNA Championship Tournament in Calgary, Canada, Friday evening.
Playing at the SAIT Polytechnic, T&T turned back Canada 59-38 while the Barbadians crushed Cayman Islands 87-12.
In the other match played, Grenada lost their second straight match, going down 62-28 to the United States.
The tournament is an International Netball Federation qualifier for the 2015 World Cup, with two the top teams booking automatic spots.
And with their third successive victories, T&T and Barbados remained favourites to reach the showpiece in Sydney, Australia.
T&T were never in any trouble, coasting to a 17-8 lead after the first quarter to lead 32-17 at the half-time whistle. They were ahead 50-27 at the end of the third quarter and even though they relaxed and were out-scored 11-9 in the final stanza, the verdict was already assured.
Barbados, meanwhile, routed Cayman Islands, behind two imperious quarters on either side of half-time. They were ahead 18-7 at the end of the first quarter and then blew away the Caymanians 27-1 in the second quarter, to post a 45-8 half-time lead.
In the third quarter, Barbados once again emphasised their dominance, hammering their opponents 22-1 to head into the final quarter with a 67-9 advantage.
T&T and Barbados play each other in the final round of matches tomorrow.
