THERE will be three American match officials, but none from either Trinidad and Tobago or the Caribbean taking up duties at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Referee Mark Geiger and assistant referee Sean Hurd, along with assistant referee reserve Eric Boria of the USA have been selected to this year’s World Cup which will take place in June.
In total, 75 referees and 16 support referees worldwide have been selected by the FIFA Referee Committee. Three referees and six assistant referees have been selected out of the CONCACAF region for this year’s World Cup. In addition, CONCACAF has been assigned four support referees and two support assistant referees.
Officials from the USA, El Salvador Guatemala, Costa Rica and Canada’s Joe Fletcher, an assistant referee have been selected for the tournament.
