Noel, Morgan keep Fire hot in All Sectors
Afeisha Noel and Simone Morgan combined effectively for Fire as they closed within two points of leaders Game Changers after their 50-34 victory over Police in the Premiership Division of the All Sectors Netball League on Saturday.
In the match at the Eastern Regional Indoor Complex in Tacarigua, goal shoot Noel missed just six of her 39 attempts, while Morgan hit 17 out of 26 as Fire led in every quarter to clinch a comfortable win. Joelisa Cooper carried the fight to Fire almost singlehandedly, scoring 31 of Police’s 34 goals from her 39 attempts.
Game Changers lead the standings after the first round with a perfect record after three games.
In the Championship Division, leaders Fire (10 points) extended their lead over inactive Police X to four points when they beat winless Police Y 50-21 as second round action began. Goal shoot Aquila Blugh was busy for Fire, scoring 37 of her 61 attempts, while goal attack Ayanna Peters supported with 13 of 24. For Police Y, goal shoot Jiselle Navarro was the only one in double figures, sinking 16 of her 22 attempts.
Meanwhile, steady shooting by goal shoot Kathy James (30 of 32) and goal attack Indra Anderson (ten of 17), moved third placed Bermudez level on points with Police X following their 42-34 win over Jabloteh. Goal shoot Latoya Thomas got 10 of 18 for Jabloteh.
In the Alternative Division, University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), led by goal attack Kimberly Collette who sank 28 of her 36 attempts, scored a 41-23 win over Prisons. Goal shoot La Vaughn O’Neil got 14 of 20 for Prisons.
The one scheduled game in the Retro Division between La Femmes and TSTT was not played. La Femmes won by default.
