Notre Dame retained their U-21 Men's title Sunday with a competitive 5-4 win over QPCC when the 2012 Carib Shandy Magnolias Indoor Tournament came to an end at the Jean Pierre Complex.
Shaquille Daniel was the main protagonist in the Notre Dame victory with three goals. He was supported by one goal a piece from Aidan De Gannes and Darnil Trancoso in a game that was tied up to the 21st minute.
For QPCC, Arody Brandford netted a double, while Jordan Reynos added the other item.
There were different champions this year in the other two divisions—the Under-21 Women and the Open Men.
For the women, GCC from Guyana were denied a repeat when hosts Carib Shandy Magnolias edged them 2-1.
Brianna Govia gave the "Mags" the go-ahead goal in the third minute before Ashley De Groot found the equaliser in the game's penultimate minute. But the Mags' Kelly Marie Young got the winner seconds after for her team to lift the title.
In the Open Men's final, Notre Dame earned another trophy for their club with a 7-5 result over defending champions Paragon.
Paragon held a 4-3 lead after 24 minutes but a four-goal Notre Dame blast in a ten-minute period after that, took the game away from last year's winners.
Notre Dame got doubles from Under-21 MVP Shaquille Daniel, Darnil Trancoso and Aidan De Gannes, with Chad Jose Pedro scoring the other goal. Syl Sinnette scored twice for Paragon, while his teammates Steffon Sandiford, Sheldon Mc Kellar and Cogie Butler added one goal each.
