IN A ROUT: American-bred three-year-old Coroneo, with champion jockey Brian Boodramsingh astride, saunters to a seven-length victory in last Saturday’s seventh event, for horses rated 90-60, on the eighth round of the 2014 season at Santa Rosa Park, Arima. The John O’Brien trainee, who created a favourable impression when slamming his rivals by 12 lengths on his local debut on January 18, further advertised his burgeoning reputation in the 1,200-metre contest. His winning time was a decent 1:11.91. The grey son of Value Plus was chased home in the $50,000 contest by King Whistler, Intact and Slewjero, in rounding out the top placings for a superfecta payment of $18.10. The field was reduced to seven runners, following the withdrawal of Thisonesforron and Loan Shark. —Photo: DAVID WIGHT
