Queen's Park Cricket Club closed in on the Eastern Credit Union Premier Division title, following their innings and 48-run victory over Moosai Sports in the penultimate round of the competition, at Honeymoon Park, El Dorado, yesterday.

After making 421 for seven declared on Saturday, the Parkites' spinners, Sunil Narine (5/35), Amit Jaggernauth (3/42 & 5/67) and Akeal Hosein (5/64), each took five-wicket hauls to help dismiss Moosai for 146 and 227 to seal the win before tea yesterday.

The result means that the Parkites get the maximum 28 points from the match, taking them to 174 points with one round of matches to be played.

Their closest rivals, Ceramic Merry Boys took 25 points from their come-from-behind 124-run win over CLICO Preysal, at Inshan Ali Park in Preysal, yesterday, but that only carries them to a total of 142 points, still 32 points behind the leaders.

But, mathematically, Merry Boys can still catch up if the National League Disciplinary Committee turns the Parkites' win over Preysal in the fifth round into a draw, which will see the Port of Spain club lose eight points, cutting their lead to 24.

Merry Boys will have to win their final round match against First Citizens Clarke Road United and hope Queen's Park's lose badly against SIS Central Sports.

At Point Lisas, T&TEC skipper Jason Mohammed hit an undefeated 204 and all-rounder Richard Kelly struck 129 to help their team post an imposing 414 for nine declared against First Citizens Clarke Road United.

In reply, Clarke Road made 206 for six declared, with retuning batsman Adrian Barath hitting 56 and Kieron Joseph making 47. That game ended in a draw, with T&TEC picking up first innings points.
