Police are dual winners in the Courts All Sectors Netball League Knockout tournament, taking both the Premiership and Championship Division titles on Tuesday night. Police secured the Steve Sarjeant Challenge trophy with a narrow 30-27 victory thanks to near perfect shooting from goal attack Joelisa Cooper, who scored all her teamís goals from 32 attempts.
Goal shoot Afeisha Noel was also effective at the other end, sin≠king 23 of 28 attempts for Fire, but even with assistance from goal attack Simone Morgan (4-of-5 shooting), was not able to withstand Cooperís impact.
Police jumped out to a 16-14 lead by halftime. Although Fire kept it close, they were not able to match their opponents in the second 15-minute half.
The Jean Pierre Challenge was not as challenging for Police, who had 20-of-25 shooting from goal shoot Patrice Goring and a perfect five goals from goal attack Beverly Hernandez.
Fireís best offensive effort came from goal shoot Aquila Blugh (9 of 13), but Police won 25-18. Fire got to the final with a 36-11 trouncing of UWI, with Noel scoring 27 goals from 38 attempts. Morgan added seven goals (12 attempts).
