ADELAIDE STRIKERS: Kieron Pollard ToolsPollard, Narine available for CT20...will miss opener against JamaicaKieron Pollard and Sunil Narine will miss Trinidad and Tobago's opening game in the upcoming Caribbean Twenty20 (CT20) competition, but will be available for the rest of the tournament. Media reports had suggested that the players' availability was in doubt because of their commitment to the Australian Big Bash league, to be played at the same time as the regional tournament. The Australian Big Bash runs from December 7 to January 19, while the regional T20 begins on January 6 in T&T, with the semifinals and finals to be played later in the month in St Lucia. Pollard has been cleared by his club to return for the competition, but will arrive on January 6 after playing his last game for the Adelaide Strikers on January 5 against the Hobart Hurricanes. He will not be available for T&T's first match against Jamaica, but will enter camp with the team immediately upon his return and play from the next game. Narine, who has been contracted by Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) winners, Sydney Sixers will also return to Port of Spain on January 6 and play the rest of the series with the Red Force. Dwayne Bravo, currently injured, has no Big Bash contract and is available for the entire series. He is undergoing therapy to remedy a thigh strain, picked up during the West Indies' T20 World Cup triumph in Sri Lanka. The right-handed batsman and medium-pacer is expected to be fully fit in time for the regional series. T&T will play their first match against last year's runners-up, Jamaica at the Queen's Park Oval on January 6. —CMC |
