PowerGen Penal entered the final round of the Premier Division competition this weekend with one hand on the trophy.
After day one of their match against Moosai Sports at Honeymoon Park, El Dorado, yesterday, they cemented the crown.
PowerGen needed just four points to take an unassailable 29-point lead at the top of the standings, and yesterday they earned three bonus points after dismissing Moosai for 324.
PowerGen also got one bonus batting point for passing 150 runs after they reached 192 for seven at stumps.
No matter what happens in the match, PowerGen will walk away as the new champions, taking the title from Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC), who won the competition for the last two years.
The Parkites lost the title in the previous round, but are still fighting for a place in the top three. They are hosting F&E Diamond United at Queen’s Park Oval.
