Preysal begin North Central campaign

Former Premier Division club CLICO Preysal start their campaign to reclaim their space in the top flight today when they face Queen's Park Cricket Club 2 in the first round of the North Central Championship Division at Inshan Ali Park, Preysal.

The community-based Preysal, have lost most of the their senior players from last season and will be starting with a relatively young side led by Videsh Sookhai, who has been one of the club's leading batsmen over the previous two seasons.

Sookhai will have the services of Combined Campuses and Colleges spinner Kristopher Ramsaran at his disposal, as well as pacer Strassark Sankar. Both players stayed with the club even after they were demoted last season.

Guyana's Eugene LaFleur will also join the team for this weekend's clash.

Some of the younger faces in the squad are Carapichaima East Secondary left-arm spinner Justin Joseph and Presentation College Chaguanas all-rounder Bryan Charles.

Trinidad and Tobago Under-19 pacer Philton Williams is also in the Preysal line-up.

In the East North East Championship, Munroe Road Cricket Club will start their campaign against Unity Sports at Munroe Road, while Sunday League 40-over finalists UTT will host Barataria Ball Players at O'Meara.

In the South Championship, a strengthened Jenexcon Tableland Sports will oppose Progressive Sports at Tableland.

Tableland will have former T&T batsman Lincoln Roberts in their squad, along with Kenton Thompson and Brent Harriot who both have Premier Division experience.

Left-arm pacer Daniel St Clair, who is a graduate of the T&T Cricket Board Academy and his brother Elijah are also in the squad, along with left-arm spinner Rienzo Trotman.
