AFTER the women had their turn yesterday, the men will play for places in the doubles semi-finals when the BG T&T Tranquillity Open Tennis Tournament continues today at the club's courts, Victoria Avenue, Port of Spain.
The returning Winnington Grazette has reached the quarter-finals with the veteran Robert Le Hunte.
However their dream run is expected to come to an end today when they oppose top seeds and defending champions Yohansey Williams and Vaughn Wilson.
In the other matches, Jabari Davidson and Keshan Moonasar come up against Aaron Soo Ping Chow and Nabeel Mohammed; Davidson's brother Jelani and Elan Mendes will face Kendall Cuffy and Richard McLetchie and second-seeded Tobagonians Dunstan Denoon and Jovani Lewis do battle against Auguste brother, Colin and Dion.
Three of the four women's quarters were contested yesterday and they all finished on the identical 6-1, 6-2 scoreline. Last year's runners-up Cindy Kabli and Christine Alcazar got past Aryanne Hart and 12-year-old Emma Davis, while Bridgette Garcia and Sarah Escalante whipped Dominique Coutain and Juliet Campbell and former national doubles champs Leah Alcala and Trevine Sellier dismissed Olivia Haslam and former national under-14 and 16 champ Nalini Maharaj.
The semi-final line up will be completed today when top seeds Breana Stampfli, a triple crown champ last year, and Donna Chin Lee face Joy Arjoon-Singh and Kelta Satahoo.
First serve is 4 p.m. and the schedule will also include second round matches in the veterans' (over-45) and mixed doubles draws.
