Defending Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board Sunday League champions Queen's Park Cricket Club will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Group A standings when they take on W Connection Wanderers in round three of the competition starting at 10 a.m. at Gilbert Park, California.
The Parkites are tied on six points with PowerGen Penal at the top of the standings and even without their international stars, they will still be favorites to come away with their third win of the competition against Wanderers who have zero points from two matches.
Justin Guillen will not have the services West Indies players Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Darren Bravo or Sunil Narine for this weekend's matches but their team is still as strong as ever with youngster Akeal Hosein and veteran off-spinner Amit Jaggernauth both returning to the line-up.
The Bravo bothers as well as Pollard and Narine are all with the T&T team in Barbados for the regional four-day match against the Combined Campuses and Colleges which bowled off yesterday.
Hosein, who did not play in the season opener last Saturday against Clarke Road at Queen's Park Oval, was back in the starting line-up last Sunday when he took four wickets as the Parkites defeated LLumar Esmeralda at Esmeralda ground in a low-scoring match. Also coming into the first team are Petrock Nicholas, youth player Khary Pierre and Uthman Mohammed.
Their opponents are winless so far and will need something special from their players to contend with the defending champions.
Youngster Ewart Nicholson gave them some impetus in their last match scoring an even 50 in the loss to First Citizens Clarke Road, and the El Dorado East student play could be key in their quest for a first win of the season.
PowerGen, who are also unbeaten in Group A, tackle Esmeralda at Esmeralda ground, while the two mid-table teams Clarke Road and SIS Central Sports, who are both on three points with one win each, face off at Wilson Road, Debe.
In Group B, leaders T&TEC Sports (six points), who were finalists last year, face third place Merry Boys (three points) at Point Lisas.
T&TEC will be without the services of last week's centurion Denesh Ramdin as well as all-rounder Rayad Emrit and skipper Jason Mohammed, while Merry Boys will be missing Lendl Simmons and Atiba Allert.
Alescon Comets, who are also on six points, face CLICO Preysal (1 point) at Inshan Ali Park, Preysal, while last placed Moosai Sports (zero points) take on Seenath's Auto Bamboo Sports (one point) at Honeymoon Park.
All matches bowl off at 10 a.m.
