Quiet day for West Indians in Big Bash
Marlon Samuels' Melbourne Renegades defeated Chris Gayle's Sydney Thunder by five wickets, but both batsmen had low-key performances in their Big Bash Twenty20 clash at Stadium Australia in Sydney yesterday.
The Thunder batted first and posted 116 for seven off their 20 overs, with Chris Tremain hitting 37 off 23 balls with two fours and three sixes.
Gayle added just 12 off 13 balls with one six before he was run out.
Samuels took one for 28 in support of Melbourne's main wicket-taker Aaron O'Brien who grabbed three for 15.
Melbourne replied with 117 for five off 18.2 overs with Aaron Finch hitting 31 and Ben Rohrer making 27.
Samuels only scored four when his team batted.
Sunil Narine's Sydney Sixers will be in action tomorrow against Perth Scorchers.
