Ramdoo stars for North Zone in U-19 opener

By Roger Seepersad

Joshua Ramdoo played a captain's knock yesterday, scoring an unbeaten 92 to lead his North Zone team to an 82-run first innings lead against North East at stumps on day one of their BG T&T InterZone Under-19 match at Santa Cruz yesterday.

Ramdoo led North to 174 for two at the close yesterday to put his team in a good position to force an outright win in the two-day fixture after leg-spinner Jesse Bootan snatched five wickets for 21 runs to help dismiss North East for 92 earlier in the day.

Elsewhere, defending Under-19 champions East had a tough day at Shaw Park, Tobago with Shaquille Duncan hitting 113 to lead the hosts to a competitive 226 all out in their first innings. In reply, East were 67 for one at stumps with Jeremy Solozano unbeaten on 27.

Also scoring a ton yesterday was St Mary's College batsman Jason Batson who hit 110 not out for Central as they piled up 344 for five declared against South West in Rousillac.

Trinidad and Tobago wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran also had a good day with the bat, hitting 60 while Bryan Charles and Kamil Pooran both scored half centuries.

South West were four without loss when rain forced an early end to the day's proceedings.

All matches continue today from 10 a.m.
