ToolsRoach contributes in Brisbane's winl BRISBANE West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach was among the wicket-takers as his team Brisbane Heat scored an upset win over Melbourne Stars in the Australian Big Bash League yesterday. Roach grabbed one wicket and took a catch as the heat beat the stars by 24 runs at the Gabba. Brisbane Heat stumbled but recovered to post a respectable 171 for 5 in their 20 overs while Melbourne Stars replied with 147 for 9 of 20 overs. The Barbadian pacer uprooted the stumps of James Faulkner for 18 and finished with figures of 4 overs, no maidens, 23 runs, one wicket. Roach was also active on the field and caught Rob Quiney for 10 after he tried going after Alister Mcdermott. Brisbane Heat skipper James Hopes turned in a man-of-the-match performance by following his 49 with the bat to take three for 28 with the ball. The Heat was forced to weather a Lasith Malinga onslaught as the Super slinger continued his destructive BBL form with an amazing three wickets for no runs after just 10 balls. Brisbane Heat's win over second-placed Melbourne Stars moves them to fifth on the table and keeps them in the hunt for a semi-final berth. |
