Trinidad and Tobago Olympic sailor Andrew Lewis won the Spirit of Sport Awards (SOSA) Community Coach of the Year award at the 2012 SOSA pre-event function at Hyatt Regency, Port of Spain yesterday.
Lewis was one of six winners announced at yesterday's mini-award ceremony.
The other winners were David Pollard of Trinity College East, who won the Educator of the Year award; Cunupia Football Club who won the Community Team award; Dr Terence Babwah who was the Best Technical Team Member, while Best Performing School was Carapichaima East Secondary. The Millennium Basketball Academy was also named the Best Community Club.
The final nominees for the other 19 categories were also announced yesterday, with T&T Olympic gold medallist Keshorn Walcott being nominated for five awards.
Walcott is in contention for the Male Athlete of the Year, Sport Performance of the Year, Record Breaking Performance, Breakthrough Athlete and Consistent Performer.
Walcott's coach Ismael Lopez Mastrapa and manager Sean Roach were also nominated in the Coach of the Year and Manager of the Year categories.
The second annual Spirit of Sport Awards will take place on December 28 at Queen's Hall in St Ann's.
