Schoolboys Scarborough out FA Trophy

After an admirable run, schoolboys Scarborough Secondary went out at the quarter-final stage of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) FA Trophy to Pro League club W Connection.

Scarborough reached furthest of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) teams who were allowed to enter the competition this year.

Also competing were SSFL Big Five qualifiers Carapichaima East Secondary, El Dorado Secondary and St Anthony's College.

Scarborough beat Super League club 1976 Phoenix 3-1 in the opening round and in the second round got past Caroni Samba 3-1 on penalty kicks, after a 0-0 draw. However, they were no match for W Connection, losing 5-0 on Sunday at Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella.

Laventille-born striker Hashim Arcia led W Connection with a hat-trick, while San Juan boy Jerrel Britto netted twice.

Also reaching the semi-finals in commanding fashion were Defence Force, who got a pair of goals from striker Josimar Belgrave in stopping North Zone club St Francois Nationals 5-0.

Recent Caledonia AIA recruits Devon Jorsling (34th) and Ataulla Guerra (73rd) got one each when they defeated Super League champions Joe Public 2-0 and WASA FC are the last of the semi-pro National Super League teams in the competition after they defeated South Zone's OJ Saldado 3-1.

Ex-San Juan Jabloteh midfielder Fabien Garcia scored twice and former W Connection and Joe Public striker Shane Calderon got the other for WASA. Anderson Smart scored a 70th minute consolation for O.J Soldado.

The draw for the FA Trophy semis takes place from 2 p.m. today at the President's Box of the Queen's Park Cricket Club, Port of Spain.
