COREY NAKATANI, Edgar Prado, and Emile Ramsammy will have six mounts each during next week Saturday's Caribbean Nations Racing Challenge at Santa Rosa Park, Arima.

Ramsammy, this country's most successful jockey of all time who has been based in Canada for the last two decades; Nakatani, the American with more than 3,500 winners in his career; and American-based Peruvian Prado, a veteran with more than 6,000 winners, are three of the biggest stars involved in the day which is being hailed as the greatest ever in the sport in the Caribbean.

Six horses from Jamaica, four each from Barbados and St Kitts and 79 from host country Trinidad and Tobago will do battle in ten events for total prize-money of US$650,000 and approximately 400 million fans from around the world are expected to see the races via simulcast on TVG.

Prado, Nakatani and Ramsammy are certainly not the only celebrities who will be in the saddle next week as United States-based riders Alan Garcia and Irad Ortiz Jr will also be in action, along with Irishman Richard Hughes, Panamanian Ruben Silvera and Canada-based T&T jockey Richard Dos Ramos.

Silvera and Puerto Rican teenger Ortiz Jr will have five mounts each, while Peruvian Garcia, Dos Ramos and Hughes, who has won more than 1,500 times in Great Britain, have four bookings apiece.

However, despite the presence of all these stars, Barbadian Jualon Samuel will be the busiest rider with eight mounts.

Total prize-money in each race is at least US$50,000 and this whopping sum will be doubled in the two feature events.

The first of the US$100,000 events will be the eighth of the programme, but the field for the West Indian-bred Stayers Challenge Trophy is missing the two horses which were expected to battle for the US$60,000 winners' cheque.

Mark My Word, last year's triple crown winner at Caymanas Park, will not be making the trip from Jamaica, while two-time defending Horse of the Year Bruceontheloose will instead compete in the curtain event--the US$75,000 West Indian-bred Sprinters Challenge Trophy over 1,200 metres.

In the absence of the giants, the "Stayers Challenge" is a wide-open race with Grand Riviere, Sam's Hero and Go For The Gold, three of the leading West Indian-bred three-year-olds of last season, involved along with four classic contenders from this season--Touch D Road, winner of the Easter Guineas and Midsummer Classic, Trinidad Derby winner Bears And Bulls, Oaks Stakes winner B's Passion, and Frankenstein--over 1,800 metres.

The Imported Stayers Challenge will follow and the field of nine to compete over the same distance will include last year's Gold Cup winner Cactus Amour, Montejo, Stewards Cup runner-up Readbetweendlines, 1,750-metre track record-holder Boogie Blues and American Dance from St Kitts.
