Springer to act as Federation president

Due to personal reasons the Trinidad and Tobago Karate Federation (TTKF) President, Virginia Seebaran will be going on a sabbatical . A release from the Federation last week said that Sensei Maureen Springer, fifth Dan, will act as president with immediate effect. Springer's background is in banking and has served in numerous leadership positions in karate and her job from which she is now retied.

She is a fifth degree black belt, a graduate of the American Sport Education Programme's (ASEP's) Coaching Principles course, an international referee and one of two national karate coaches who are certified to teach karate with the Trinidad and Tobago Paralympic Committee ( TTPC). She also runs the karate programme for the School for the Blind in Paxvale, Santa Cruz.
