St Barb's shine at North Games

Josiah Wells, Kimberly Hinkson and Israel Jones led the charge as St Barb's Government Primary School emerged victorious in the Port of Spain & Environs North Games boys' and girls' Zone "A" team competitions, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, on Wednesday.

In Zone "B", Belmont Boys RC captured the boys' team title, while Melville Memorial AC triumphed among the girls.

In Zone "A", Wells was the most outstanding athlete in the boys' under-15 age-group, earning the Victor Ludorum award. Jones secured the same title in the boys' under-13 category, while Hinkson shared girls' under-15 Victrix Ludorum honours with Our Lady of Laventille RC student, Shaheeda Thomas.

Piccadilly Government finished second in the Zone "A" boys' team competition, while third spot went to Rose Hill RC. Boys' under-11 Victor Ludorum Omarley Sanchez was a key contributor for Piccadilly.

St Therese's Preparatory School student Keone John was named boys' under-9 Victor Ludorum.

Thanks in the main to girls' under-11 Victrix Ludorum Kishanti Alcantara and girls' under-13 Victrix Ludorum Alisa Dedier, St Hilda's Government finished second to St Barb's in the Zone "A" girls' team competition. And for third-placed Rose Hill, girls' under-9 Victrix Ludorum Azailia Henry was outstanding.

Among the standouts for Zone "B" boys' team champions, Belmont Boys were under-9 Victor Ludorum Shaquille Garcia, under-11 Victor Ludorum Jaheim Ashby and Jameel Yearwood, who shared the under-15 Victor Ludorum title with Bishop Anstey Junior School (BAJS) students, Christian George and Jonathan Taylor.

BAJS finished second in the boys' team competition, and Ascension AC, third.

In the boys' under-13 age-group, Justin McIntosh and Tyrese Clement of BAJS shared the Victor Ludorum title with Ascension's Omar Morgan and Elijah Burke, and Boissiere RC's Jaysi Fournillier.

Girls' under-15 Victrix Ludorum Keryl Stanford, girls' under-13 Victrix Ludorum Joanna Rogers and joint girls' under-9 Victrix Ludorum Terika Worrell were all impressive for girls' team champions Melville Memorial.

Worrell shared her title with a trio of Ascension athletes—Antonia Griffith, Kerija Fergus and Janeil Bailey—and BAJS student Dominique Boodoo.

Ascension finished second in the girls' team competition, while BAJS copped third spot.

Trinity Sargeant was named girls' under-11 Victrix Ludorum, the BAJS athlete producing two superb runs on Wednesday to strike gold in the 80 metres and 300m events.

In the March Past competition, Gloucester Lodge Moravian retained the Zone "A" title, while Ascension repeated as Zone "B" champions.
