Trinidad and Tobago are aiming for their fifth consecutive victory in the Regional Super50 tournament when they tackle defending champions Jamaica in the penultimate round of the competition at Sabina Park, Jamaica today.
Both teams are already into the semi-finals of the competition, winning all their matches so far, but today's encounter is still very important in determining where the teams will finish on the standings.
The top-placed team after the round robin phase will tackle the fourth-placed side in one semi-final, while the second and third-placed teams will do battle in the other semi.
For now, Jamaica lead the seven-team standings with 19 points, including three bonus points, while T&T are second on 17 points inclusive of one bonus point.
The Regional Super50 semi-finals and final will be played at Kensington Oval, Barbados.
The last time the Jamaicans met T&T in Super50 action was in the 2011 final when T&T were well beaten by the Jamaicans.
Like their heavy defeat in the recent four-day encounter at Sabina Park, T&T's loss in 2011 was also a result of a poor batting performance which they will be looking to correct this time around.
T&T manager Omar Khan is already calling for his players to up the ante after losing by 93 runs in three days against the Jamaicans on the weekend.
T&T had totals of 121 and 192. But while their batting needs to step it up; the team's bowlers seem to be holding their own.
All-rounders Sherwin Ganga and Teshawn Castro joined the T&T team in Jamaica ahead of the match to add further strength to the batting and bowling departments, with Ganga providing an off-spin option along with his left-hand batting and Castro adding his medium pace to the mix.
