West Indies Women whip England in final
West Indies beat England by eight wickets to win the Women’s Twenty20 International Tri-nation Series, on Saturday night.
Playing in front a record crowd of 3,500 at Kensington Oval, the Windies raced to 119 for two wickets off 16.5 overs in reply to England’s 115 for five off their 20 overs.
Stafanie Taylor confirmed her status as the best player in the game with a superb allround display. She had the amazing figures of 4-1-8-1 when the West Indies bowled. She then opened the batting and made 51 not out off 47 balls with five fours to see her team to a great victory.
Taylor shared an unbroken partnership of 78 off 64 balls with the powerful Deandra Dottin, who raised the tempo with a number of powerful shots including a big six which cleared the long-on rope by some distance.
Dottin finished unbeaten on 46 off 25 balls with a six and four boundaries–including the winning shot over the bowler’s head.
Taylor received the Player-of-the-Match award, while Dottin was named Player-of-the-Series for her aggregate of 156 runs at an average of 39 runs per innings and a strike rate of 133.
