Trinidad Northern RFC No.8 Adam Frederick will skipper the national rugby team when they kick off their defence of the 15-a-side Caribbean Championship against Barbados on Saturday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
Rugby will make its way back to the Mucurapo venue after a lengthy absence for a 4 p.m. kick off against the physical Barbadians, in what is sure to be a difficult title defence campaign. The Trinidad and Tobago team manager Curtis Nero, via T&T Rugby Football Union (TTRFU) release, said the national squad is confident of victory over the visiting side.
He added that home advantage will play a big part in T&T’s success, and is urging the T&T public to come out in support of the team. Apart from the veteran captain in Frederick, T&T also have a fair amount experience, including flanker Wayne Kelly and scrum half Jonathan O’Connor.
