Trinidad and Tobago’s “A” team enjoyed a narrow victory over their T&T “B” counterparts yesterday in a T20 warm up match at National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva.
Jason Mohammed’s attacking innings of 63 in just 34 balls—including four sixes and five fours—kept T&T A on track for most of the encounter, and he was also supported by Kjorn Ottley (33 balls, four fours) in their successful pursuit of 155, for the loss of five wickets.
Nicholas Pooran (17) also played a crucial role in the chase, before Navin Stewart (17 not out) and Yannic Cariah (unbeaten on seven) brought things home for T&T A with a ball to spare. For T&T B, Yannick Ottley was the main threat with the ball, snaring three wickets, but it was Shannon Gabriel taking the important scalp of Mohammed, his lone wicket.
T&T A won the toss and inserted their opponents for whom Evin Lewis slammed six fours and two sixes in a 42-ball 62 as T&T B made 154 for six.
T&T B 154/6 in 20 overs (Evin Lewis 62, Navin Stewart 2/13, Marlon Richards 2/29, Ancil Bhagan 1/16) vs T&T A 155/5 in 19.5 overs (Jason Mohammed 63, Kjorn Ottley 30, Navin Stewart 17 not out, Nicholas Pooran 17; Yannick Ottley 3/29, Shannon Gabriel 1/30, Khary Pierre 1/26)
