The East team includes West Indies spinner Anisa Mohammed and her sister Alisa as well as T&T national players Kirbyina Alexander, Lee Ann Kirby and Rachel Marcano and another West Indies player in Stacy-Ann King.
North/South/Central also have an experienced side with national senior players Amanda Samaroo, Britney Cooper, Gaitri Seetahal, Shanelle Lord and Samantha Bissoon in the mix along with Cunupia Secondary’s Rosemary Samaroo.
Other Secondary Schools cricketers on show over the two days include Alysha Gomez and Reniece Boyce who are in the East Zone team and Rianna Farrow, Shania Augustus and Leandra Ramdeen who will play alongside Samaroo in the combined team.
The teams will play two 50-overs matches today and tomorrow at the same venue with the winners being crowned champions. Although it is just two games, the players will have a lot to play for including a chance to make the national senior team for the Women’s regional tournament.
The TTWCA will be using the matches to look at potential players for the T&T senior team and among those that will be playing close attention to the performances of the cricketers are technical director Ann Brown-John and coach of the national team Gerald Garcia.
