T&T girls lose 2nd game in youth netball

Jamaica cruised to their fourth straight win of the Caribbean Netball Association Jean Pierre Youth tournament on Thursday night, when they brushed aside a challenge from previously unbeaten Barbados to post a comfortable 38-21 victory.
The young Sunshine Girls raced to a 9-5 first quarter lead before converting this into a 19-10 half-time cushion. Jamaica then outscored the Barbadians 10-3 to lead 29-13 at the start of the fourth quarter, to virtually put the game away. For the winners, goal shoot Simone Gordon netted 34 from 37 attempts while Barbados got nine goals from 12 attempts from Shakeillia Smith. The win moved Jamaica to 20 points while Barbados lie second on 16 points. Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago suffered their second defeat of the competition when they went down 29-14 to St Vincent & the Grenadines.
T&T trailed 8-16 at the half-time whistle and fell further behind in the third quarter as SVG posted a handsome 21-11 lead, ahead of the final quarter.
Goal attack Tiana Dillin scored ten goals from 16 attempts for the losers while goal shoot Khadija Williams led T&T with 27 from 41 attempts.
The victory gave SVG their second win in four outings and moved them to 12 points while the loss was T&T’s second in four fixtures, leaving them down the standings on ten points.
In the other matches played, St Kitts defeated St Lucia 29-20 while in the Development category, Combined Youth defeated Nevis 33-2.
