T&T juniors pedal off in Pan Am
The Trinidad and Tobago junior cycling team will step into action in the 2014 Junior Pan American Cycling Championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico, today, with Kollyn St George and Keiana Lester facing the starter in the Team Sprint event.
This will be the second time the duo will compete in the event at the Junior Pan American championships and they will be eager to improve on their fourth place finish last year. Tomorrow, the pair will return to the track for the 500m Time Trial while Akil Campbell will take to the track in the 3km Individual Pursuit.
On Tuesday, Lester and St George will be contesting the Sprints while Campbell will start the Omnium. The trio will continue the Sprints and Omnium respectively the following day. St George and Lester will then conclude the championships with the Junior Women Keirin on July 10.
The Championships returns to the same venue as last year in the high altitude city of Aguascalientes which is home to several World and National Record Breaking performances including Njisane Phillip’s flying 200m national record, Christopher Sellier’s 1km time trial national record and Keiana Lester’s flying 200m junior national record.
