T&T quartet in Canadian Open

CHARLOTTE KNAGGS is among four Trinidad and Tobago players competing in the Canadian Junior Open Squash Championships.

The tournament served off yesterday and will continue today and conclude tomorrow at “The Club at White Oaks” Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.

Knaggs is no stranger to this tournament, but Marie-Claire Barcant, Alexandria Yearwood and Jonathan Blanc are competing in an international event for the very first time.

Barcant and Blanc are the national under-15 champions and Yearwood is ranked right behind Barcant in the same category.

They are playing in their age group, while Knaggs, who is studying in England and joined the others from there, is doing battle in the under-19 division.

The 17-year-old was recently crowned Caribbean under-19 champ after ruling the region in the under-17 category for the previous two years.

However, arguably the highlight of Knaggs’ career was reaching the final 32 in the under-17 division of this tournament last year.
