By Shammi Kowlessar

YIN LEE ASSANG went out in three sets as all three Trinidad and Tobago players were eliminated in the under-14 semi-finals of the Tobago ITF (International Tennis Federation) Junior Tournament yesterday, at Shaw Park, Tobago.
The under-12 champion of the recent Sagicor Junior Tournament was edged 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 by Martine Fierro, while compatriot Oseynonye Nwokolo, the “Sagicor” under-14 champ, was beaten by the other American, Khyanne Singh, 6-3, 6-0 in the battle for the other place in today’s final.
After being the only one of eight T&T players in the boys’ draw to reach the last four, Aidan Carter was dismissed 6-0, 6-3 yesterday by Jacobi Bain of Bahamas.
Antiguan Cordell Williams Jr whipped Adriel Bosquet of St Lucia 6-2, 6-1 in the other semifinal.
Nabeel Mohammed was this country’s only player to win a match in the under-18 category, but after a straight-set first-round victory, the national under-16 and 18 champ was edged in three sets by No. 2 seed Jason Legall on Tuesday.
Incidentally, the American has local roots as his mother hails from South Trinidad.
After receiving a bye in the first round, Tobagonian Tonyah Livonen failed to trouble the scorer.
The 14 other T&T under-18 players were eliminated in the first round of the third annual tournament.
