T&T trio in Fed Cup

TRINIDAD and Tobago will be among 12 countries doing battle when American Zone Group II of the Fed Cup serves off today in Puerto Rico.
The teams—Barbados, Bermuda, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Panama, Peru, T&T, Uruguay, Puerto Rico—were placed in four round-robin groups during last night’s captains meeting.
The top team from each group will advance to the knockout phase and then the winners of Saturday’s two semi-finals will be promoted to American Zone Group I of the world’s premier female team tennis tournament next year.
This country is being represented for a record ninth time by the United States-based Annaleise Rose, as well as 23-year-olds Olivia Bennett and Shenelle Mohammed.
Bennett, who captured a triple crown at “Tranquil” just over a week ago, is making her third appearance, one more than the left-handed Mohammed.
