T&T umpire in Commonwealth Games

THERE are no Trinidad and Tobago badminton players competing in the Commonwealth Games, but the sport here is still being represented in Glasgow, Scotland.

Shawn Sookdeo is officiating in the badminton events, which served off yesterday and will conclude on Sunday.

The country’s most qualified umpire in the sport is actually accredited by the Badminton World Federation and was chosen to officiate during the Games.

Sookdeo, the official tournament referee of the Trinidad and Tobago Badminton Association, has worked at major sporting events like the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games and the Pan American Games, but this is his first time at a Commonwealth Games.
