T&T women face Guyana

Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica will both put unbeaten records on the line today in the semi-final of the West Indies Cricket Board Women’s Super50 Tournament in Grenada.

Group B winners T&T face Group A runners-up Guyana at Tanteen starting from 9.30 a.m., while simultaneously Group A winners Jamaica meet Group B second’s second-placed Barbados at Progress Park.

Both T&T and Jamaica have registered three wins from as many matches in the eight-team tournament. Trinidad and Tobago topped Group B by beating Barbados, St Vincent & the Grenadines and hosts Grenada. The Bajans finished second in the Group B, St Vincent were third, with hosts Grenada propping up the standings.

Meanwhile, Jamaica registered wins over St Lucia, Guyana and Dominica to top Group A.  Guyana were next best, ahead of Dominica, while St Lucia ended in cellar spot. Jamaica are defending champions in both the 50-over tournament, with their last win in 2011, as well as the regional T20, which they won last year by beating T&T in a low-scoring affair.

Today’s Regional Women’s Super50 fixtures:

Semi-Final 1: Jamaica v Barbados, Progress Park, 9.30 a.m.

Semi-Final 2: Trinidad and Tobago v Guyana, Tanteen, 9.30 a.m.
