T&T women impress in CBC championships

 The Trinidad and Toba­go women’s basketball team got their Caribbe­an Basketball Confedera­tion (CBC) Championships campaign off to a winning start when they defeated St Vincent and the Gre­na­dines 57-43 on Tuesday night before thrashing Guyana 96-33 on Wed­nes­day to confirm their place in the semi-finals.

The championships are taking place in Torto­la, British Virgin Islands, and concludes on Sunday. The local team was scheduled to take on Group B leaders Jamai­ca last night to determine

who would top the group.

In T&T’s first game, Samantha Wallace scored 11 points and had

11 rebounds to lead her team to victory. On Wednesday, Rhea Lau­rene Codio led the charge for T&T, scoring 15 points, while Ronda John Davis and Joelisa Cooper con­tributed 13 each. 

Group A comprises US Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Barbados and the Domi­nican Republic.
