TRINIDAD and Tobago players cruised into the doubles final after being eliminated from singles when the ITF (International Tennis Federation) 13 & Under Caribbean Development Championships Thursday in Curacao.
Ethan Ammon and Gianluc Robinson were seeded to reach the title match and the No. 2 seeds did so in style with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Edan Martes and Sergei Pinto of the Netherland Antilles.
The top-seeded Bermudans James Finnegan, who defeated Robinson 6-0, 6-3 in the singles quarter-finals, and singles favourite Christopher Rego, will tackle Robinson and Ammon in the final after whipping Bahamians Malik Jones and Oneal Mortimer 6-2, 6-1.
Ammon, who reached the under-14 semis of both singles and doubles in an ITF junior tournament two weeks ago, suffered a heart-breaking loss in the quarters when Mani King of St Vincent edged the left hander 6-2, 4-6, 12/10.
