T&T players in Sunday League semis

By Roger Seepersad

Trinidad and Tobago batsman Jason Mohammed returns to action today when his club PowerGen Penal take on Seenath's Auto Bamboo Sports in the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board Premier Division Sunday League semi-final at Kennedy Park, Diamond Village today.

PowerGen welcome back the middle order batsman who was sidelined with a strained hamstring during T&T's four-day tournament win over the Leeward Islands last month.

Their opponents will have the services of leg-spinner Yannic Cariah for the day-night clash which bowls off at 2 p.m. PowerGen manager Chitram Ramjitsingh is confident his team can come out on top but expressed his disappointment at the choice of ground for the match.

"We are very disappointed about the selection of the venue. There is no place for our supporters. No parking facilities and there are much better grounds around that they could have chosen. This venue in my opinion is not suitable for a semi-final," the PowerGen manager insisted.

He is also disappointed that star Twenty20 Samuel Badree is not eligible to play in the game because he did not represent the club in the preliminary round of the competition.

The other Sunday League semi-final between defending champions Queen's Park Cricket Club and Merry Boys takes place tomorrow at Sir Frank Worrell Ground, St Augustine from 2 p.m.

The Parkites will have the services of West Indies players Kieron Pollard, Adrian Barath, Dwayne Bravo and Sunil Narine, while Merry Boys will have Lendl Simmons in their line-up.
