The Central Trinidad Touring Team are through to the final of the Mangalie’s Trading PVC Ceiling National Over-40 T20 cricket Tournament after beating Preysal Sports by 41 runs in their semi-final clash at Pierre Road in Charlieville earlier this week.
Central, led by Rajendra Mangalie’s unbeaten 62 with contributions of 56 from Suruj Ragoonath and 49 from Narine Bidhesi, piled up 205 for two before restricting Preysal to 164 in reply.
The Central Trinidad Touring team was also dominant at the quarter-final stage of the competition when they overcame Endeavour Sports by 67 runs, thanks to an unbeaten 104 from Deonarine Deyal and five wickets for 19 runs from Mukesh Persad.
Deyal put on a 135-run stand with Suruj Ragoonath (63 n.o.) as their team posted a competitive 201 for one off 20 overs. Persad then took centre stage as Endeavour reached 134 in reply. In the other quarter-finals, Green Arrow defeated the Longdenville Touring Team by five wickets while Preysal Sports beat Tobago Legends by six wickets.
The other semi-final was scheduled to be played last night at Pierre Road with Green Arrow coming up against Tableland. The tournament final is scheduled for tomorrow from 6.30 p.m. at Pierre Road, following the third-place play-off which bowls off at 3 p.m.
