The Trinidad and Tobago Under-17 cricket team will have one last practice match again Powergen tomorrow, and two more training sessions under coach Dasrath Maharaj before leaving for Tobago on Saturday to compete in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Regional Under-17 tournament, which takes place from June 29 to July 8.
Yesterday, the under-17s were defeated by the T&T Under-19 team for the second straight day in a 50-over match at National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva. The T&T Under-19 cricketers took just 27 overs to overhaul a modest 115 all out posted by the younger cricketers in 47 overs. Amir Jangoo was far best of the under-17 batsmen with a respectable 45 runs, while Clevon Kallawan and Jeron Maniram posted 17 not out and 15 runs respectively. Bowling for the Under-19s, Jesse Bootan picked up three wickets for 25 runs, while under-19 skipper Vikash Mohan took 2/16.
Replying, the Under-19s took just 27 overs to tally 120 runs for the loss of three wickets. Jeremy Solozano was unbeaten on 56 runs at the end, while Theron Webster scored 27 runs. Bowlers Jyd Goolie and captain Varendra Jagroop took on wicket apiece for the Under-17s.
