UTT cool Fire in ANSL Premiership

UTT got off to a good start in the Courts All-Sectors Netball League (ASNL) Premiership Division Steve Sargeant Challenge, whipping Fire Service 42-35 on Monday.

At the Eastern Regional Indoor Sporting Arena in Tacarigua, UTT romped home on 34 goals from goal shoot Daystar Swift, while goal attack Jillisa Allan added eight more (19 attempts) to ensure a comfortable victory.

Fire Service's offence was led by goal shoot Afeisha Noel, who had 20-of-30 shooting, while goal attack Simon Morgan chipped in with 15 goals (24 attempts), but it was not enough to approach their opponents' score.

UTT will look to continue a good season when they compete in tomorrow's Premiership knockout competition at the same venue. That tournament jumps off from 5.30 p.m.

And in the Retro Division, TSTT and CCS (Complete Customs Services) will face off in Monday's knockout final.

TSTT, after a first round bye, trumped Les Femmes 20-9 in two ten-minute halves to dial their way into the decider, while CCS needed to get past Les Enfants 11-9 first, then Harlem (14-6) to book their berth.

In TSTT's encounter with Les Femmes, goal attack Debra Alie led the way for TSTT with 15 goals (12 attempts), while goal shoots Olivia Le Platt (three goals) and Camille Aubin (two) scored the other goals.

Against Les Enfants, CCS got their goals from goal shoot Julia Britto (9-of-10) and goal attack Sharon John (2-of-2). And John (8-of-16), playing as goal shoot, led the way for CCS against Harlem, while goal attack Sherry Thomas (6-of-16). Harlem's goals came from goal shoot Jill Humphrey (five) and Antoinette Jackson (one).
