UWI Twenty20 begins

 The second edition of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Twenty20 knockout competition gets going today with First Citizens Clarke Road United up against Defence Force in the opening match at Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in St Augustine from 2.30 p.m.

The second game of today’s double-header will see Merry Boys Sports taking on Central Sports at the same venue from 6.30 p.m.

The defending champions Esmeralda Sports take the field tomorrow at 2.30 p.m. for their match against Tobago’s Club Crusoe in one of three games scheduled for Saturday.

Moosai Sports will take on T&T Police Sports Club in the first match tomorrow from 10.30 a.m. while Queen’s Park Cricket Club will oppose UTT in the 6.30 p.m. clash.

The clubs will be playing for a first prize of $25,000.

Tickets cost $30 for the general public for preliminary matches and quarter-finals and $20 for UWI and UTT students with student IDs.

The entrance fee for the semis and final will be $40 for the general public and $30 of UWI and UTT students with their IDs.

Children under 12 will be admitted free. Tickets will be sold at the door on match days.
