UWI out early in T20 tourney
The University of the West Indies Cricket Club were booted out of the UWI Twenty20 tournament yesterday, losing to Caldrac Club by 40 runs in their preliminary round match at Sir Frank Worrell Ground in St Augustine yesterday.
Caldrac will now advance to the quarter-finals along with Queen’s Park Cricket Club, who sealed their spot in the next round with an easy seven-wicket win over the University of Trinidad and Tobago in the late match on Saturday, and Munroe Road who defeated Fulham Sports in a “Super Over” in the first of three matches played in St Augustine yesterday.
Fulham batted first and made 145 for seven, while Munroe Road replied with 145 for four. In the Super Over, Munroe Road made 13 for one and restricted Fulham to three for one.
PowerGen Penal and Jenexcon Tableland were scheduled to meet in the final preliminary round match last night.
